The story of the Mulhern family begins in a castle in England. Tom and Malora met at Capernwray Bible College in Carnforth, England in 2000. It was love at first site and Tom knew from the moment that he saw Malora that she was the girl that he was supposed to marry. Their friendship quickly blossomed and once school was over Tom asked Malora to date him over the internet while he was in Rome and she was in High River, AB.

They had a long distance relationship for a year and a half while Malora studied DeafBlind intervention at Medicine Hat College in Medicine Hat, AB and Tom studied theology at Alliance University College in Regina, SK. Malora graduated with a certificate of DeafBlind intervention in spring of '03 and Tom graduated with a Bachelor's of Religion- Christian Studies a year later. In August 2002, Tom surprised Malora by driving from Phoenix to Calgary to ask Malora to marry him. She said yes and on June 1st 2003 they were married at the Kananaskis Lodge in Alberta. A couple months later they had their first addition to the family, a basset hound named buster. A year and half later on January 24, 2004 their first son (and only), Noah James Mulhern, was born. Noah quickly moved from being a baby to a little toddler, from crawling to walking, and from walking to running. The Mulherns have had an emerging journey from the moment they met to today, and one thing has always been central in their relationship; God. They also like to smooch a lot!

Tom grew up in Estes Park, Co and lived there until he was five years old. Then his parents dragged him from the beautiful Rocky Mountains to the barren deserts of Phoenix, Az. Tom is the middle child of three boys. Tom's brothers, David and John, both live in Phoenix. After high school Tom went to Capernwray Hall in England and then Taurenhof Bible School in Schladming, Austria.

During his time at Capernwray he felt a definite call to ministry and decided to attend Alliance University College. He began his major in Missions, then Youth Ministry, then Christian Education, then he decided to be all inclusive and major in Christian Studies (theology). After graduation he got his first full time ministry position at Crosswind Community Church in San Marcos, Ca. This is where he learned to surf and got a taste for full time ministry. Tom left Crosswind Church in the spring and he moved to Phoenix, Az where he has been working at an online education company company in product development. He is still searching for what God's will for his life is, and he probably always will be.

Malora grew up in High River, Alberta Canada. She lived in a beautiful farmhouse were she spent her afternoons playing with her baby brother Adam. Her mom worked at the local bank and her father was a well known radio personality on the local AM 1140 radio station. After high school Malora worked for a year to save money for Capernwray. She went to Capernwray and spent a year building friendships and growing in her relationship with God. She went home that spring with a better understanding of her faith and a really cute boyfriend. She worked in the summers at the High River Tourism board and in the fall she went to Medicine Hat College to learn how to communicate with people who are DeafBlind.

After graduation she moved with Tom to Calgary and worked at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School with some students who were deaf and blind. Working with children with these disabilities is Malora's passion and she is looking forward to returning to working with children who are DeafBlind some day. Malora is a great mom and has the oppurtunity to stay home with Noah (almost) full time. In '05 Malora was diagnosed with Rheumatiod Arthritis, but that has not stopped from enjoying the people she loves. Malora likes to read Christian romance novels and shiny movie star magazines. She also likes the occasional country song or any song that is "rarrr" (builds up and has a dramatic pushing chorus). Malora is also a fan of chick flicks and friends; both the tv show and real friends.
